Outstanding Faculty

Loyola alumni understand firsthand that the exceptional quality of a Loyola education is in large part due to its outstanding faculty. These faculty members played a formative role in their lives and continue to play a formative role in the lives of our students.

Professors today need more than just books to educate and challenge students. Gifts to The Loyola Fund allow us to provide state-of-the-art computers and software for Loyola facilities, expand access to scholarly journals, and most importantly keep our student to faculty ratio at 13 to 1, well below the national average of 45 to 1 among private institutions. Our professors could teach at their pick of colleges. Annual Fund gifts help hire and retain outstanding faculty, positively impacting each student’s Loyola experience.

Dr. Elizabeth Hammer, associate professor and psychology department chair, is just one example of Loyola’s distinguished faculty. Since coming to Loyola in 2000, she has been committed to the university’s mission of providing a challenging, student-centered education that embraces the Jesuit ideals and focuses on educating the whole person.

The idea of Loyola has made me think seriously about the responsibilities those words impose, how they apply to me, to my way of thinking, to my life.”
