Build Traditions - Inspire Excellence - Give Back

Mallory Domingue

Loyola Student, A '08

“I chose to study at Loyola because I liked the close-knit college environment and its dedication to the Jesuit ideal of serving others. I decided to return after the storm because I knew that every person back at school and back in the city would make a difference in the rebuilding efforts. Since returning, I have been involved with Katrina Krewe, an organization that cleans the city’s main thoroughfares of debris and trash, and have assisted local nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity. I am also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, where I serve as the committee chair for community service and fundraising. Alpha Chi Omega supports Crescent House, a shelter for battered women and children. The shelter burned down during the storm, and our sorority has been instrumental in raising funds for its rebuilding.

I am grateful that Loyola has not only provided me with an excellent education, but has also given me the opportunity to get involved in such a meaningful way. My academic scholarship has made it possible for me to have such a rewarding college experience both in and outside the classroom."
